Jason Porplyzia

Director

Jason Porplyzia or 'Porps' as he is affectionately know to all, has recently joined the Crows Foundation, replacing the retired Nathan Bassett. Porplyzia's journey to the Adelaide Crows senior list is a unique one. He was first drafted by the club in 2002 as a rookie but he failed to impress in his first year with Adelaide and the club delisted him. He returned to SANFL club West Adelaide where he showed a lot of improvement and won West Adelaide’s Best and Fairest in 2005.

The Crows showed faith in him again in the 2005 NAB Pre-season Draft. He kicked three goals on debut against the Western Bulldogs in Round 5 and played 11 games in his first year. He continued to impress in 2007 playing 15 games and kicking 15 goals but 2008 was his breakout season. He booted 32 goals in 18 games, including a match-winning bag of five against the Swans in round 17. Last season he took his game to another level again and was rewarded with All Australian nomination as a forward but did not make the final 22. He was the Club's leading goal kicker with 57 majors and finished runner up in the Club Champion, however won the 2009 Coaches Award.

Off the field Porplyzia has a real passion for travel. It is a passion that has opened his eyes to the struggle so many children face not only overseas, but right here in Adelaide, and unleashed a passion within him to help make a difference. He is already working with former Crow Kris Massie on a program which helps homeless youth.

Porplyzia is one of a number of current players who has been very supportive of the Crows Foundation over recent years.

The Board of the Crows Foundation were thrilled when he agreed to accept a position on the board. He was their number one choice and with his energy, enthusiasm and passion  to make a difference, he will be a huge asset to the Crows Foundation.
