Stand Out Crutches
Jason Porplyzia knows all too well how mundane and frustrating rehabilitation from a serious injury can be.
Porplyzia injured his shoulder in round one this year and has undergone surgery and months of rehabilitation to get ready for 2012.
On Monday 8 August, Porplyzia, a Crows Foundation board member, made a special delivery to the physio unit at the Women's and Children's Hospital, handing over multiple sets of Crows coloured children's crutches complete with the Crows Foundation logo.
Manager physio at the WCH Phil Calvert was thrilled with the delivery as were two young lads who will immediately benefit from them.
Alexander Jones, aged 14, seriously injured his knee playing basketball last week while 9-year-old Corey Ricci has a bone device implanted in his right leg to help lengthen it and recently underwent major surgery.
The pair are both Adelaide Crows supporters and were thrilled that Jason Porplyzia visited them and brought them the Crows crutches.
Phil Calvert said the hospital sees a significant number of children each year with serious hip, knee and ankle injuries and mobility aids that are child friendly and seen as fun are very helpful for his therapy work.
"The Crows Foundation crutches will certainly help engage the children and make their treatment more enjoyable and effective," Mr Calvert said.
The Crows Foundation has also donated multiple sets of the crutches to the Paediatrics ward at the Flinders Medical Centre.
